Building Agribusiness Capacity in East Timor (BACET): Quarterly Report, January 1-March 31, 2010

Building Agribusiness Capacity in East Timor (BACET) directly contributes to USAID/Timor-Leste’s agriculture and workforce development strategies for economic growth. Though categorized as a capacity building and workforce development activity, many of the key activities of BACET have included infrastructure improvements, which are longer-term in nature. Similarly, teacher training and changed teaching methods have long-term impact. 

During the quarter, a series of agribusiness trainings were held for agriculture extension; the program was focused on curriculum development and teacher capacity building support; BACET implemented a new element that enabled the students to run their own small business; Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries Invested in school infrastructure.
