In Cameroon, women as the primary gatherers and traders of non-timber forest products (NTFPs) have limited access to processing technologies, marketing strategies and market information. The objective of this paper is to explore how CIFOR research and capacity building implemented from 2000 have been perceived by Cameroonian traders. An evaluation of the program took place in 2006 with thirty-eight traders out of seventy-two traders trained. Of the traders initially interviewed, 95 percent of them were women.

La Recherche-Action en Partenariat (RAP) est une démarche de recherche qui associe les acteurs locaux à la construction d’innovations. Le caractère imprévisible des stratégies des acteurs et la nécessité d’atteindre les objectifs de la RAP incitent les chercheurs à mettre en place des dispositifs adaptés à la situation locale.
Les mutations du secteur agricole bamiléké (Ouest-Cameroun) ont été très importantes depuis le milieu des années 80, marqué par la chute des prix du café, alors principale production du pays Bamiléké, et par la crise économique au Cameroun. Dans cette thèse, le concept de dispositif (Foucault, Moisdon, Maugeri, RIDT-INRA) est l'outil principal d'analyse de ce secteur agricole.

The study analyzes the current state of Agricultural Technical and Vocational Education and Training (ATVET) in Africa and presents its challenges and opportunities. A review of the ATVET in selected Sub-Saharan Africa countries shows that there are far too few training opportunities for young people and that often, the training offered does not match the needs of the private sector and of local administrations. The farmer field school (FFS) concept has been widely adopted, and such schools have the reputation of strengthening farmers’ capacity to innovate. Although their impact has been studied widely, what is involved in their scaling and in their becoming an integral part of agricultural innovation systems has been studied much less. In the case of the Sustainable Tree Crops Programme in Cameroon, we investigate how a public–private partnership (PPP) did not lead to satisfactory widespread scaling in the cocoa innovation system.
