Certaines formes d’investissement peuvent être encouragées, à condition qu’elles profitent aux économies locales.
L’agriculture a été au centre des préoccupations des différents régimes politiques du Burkina Faso, ce pays sahélien enclavé qui vit essentiellement de l’agriculture, pratiquée par 86 % de sa population active. Après 50 ans d’indépendance, les politiques et réformes mises en oeuvre n’ont pas produit tous les effets escomptés. Certes, elles ont buté sur des obstacles comme la démographie galopante, les aléas climatiques ainsi que l’analphabétisme du monde rural. Mais la plus grande difficulté a été, pendant des années, l’absence d’une vision claire.
This report, drawing on a rapid desk-based review, seeks to outline the potential role of Afican Advisory Services (AAS) in addressing climate change and explores how far AAS in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) are able to respond to climatic and other pressures. Recommendations are outlined, indicating how AFAAS can help AAS to understand climate change better and become more ‘adaptive’ in their responses

This report critically evaluates the SEWA model and draws conclusions relevant to African women producers organizations to better meet the challenges of raising Africa’s agricultural potential, improve incomes for small farmers, and ensure greater food security.
This Training of Trainers Manual is designed to help build the capacity of trainers in flash flood risk management, who can then disseminate the knowledge to a larger number of practitioners. The manual presents an eight-day course including a three-day field trip. Detailed lesson plans for 21 sessions are followed by resource materials that will enable the trainers to replicate the course in their own work areas.
