Grants for agricultural innovation are common but grant funds specifically targeted to smallholder farmers remain relatively rare. Nevertheless, they are receiving increasing recognition as a promising venue for agricultural innovation. They stimulate smallholders to experiment with improved practices, to become proactive and to engage with research and extension providers. The systematic review covered three modalities of disbursing these grants to smallholder farmers and their organisations: vouchers, competitive grants and farmer-led innovation support funds.
Estas cartillas han sido producidas en el marco del Proyecto “Innovaciones institucionales para el apoyo a la gestión de procesos comerciales de la Agricultura Familiar y su vinculación con los mercados”, que se desarrolló de forma simultánea en Chile, Perú y la Argentina entre los años 2014 y 2016. Este proyecto fue financiado por el Fondo Concursable para la Cooperación Técnica del IICA (FonCT) con contrapartes gubernamentales en los tres casos. El objetivo de este trabajo es evaluar ex-ante el efecto de un sistema de concesión de infraestructura pública sobre el costo directo de producción agrícola en una zona objeto de mejoramiento del riego. La metodología consideró la aplicación de una encuesta a potenciales beneficiarios, que recoja datos sobre su percepción, disposición a pagar y planes productivos en un nuevo escenario para el riego, contrastándolos con el impacto en el margen bruto resultante del consumo eventual de agua.
Ante la poca oferta de textos que, aplicando los conceptos de marketing al área de los Agronegocios, indiquen cómo detectar oportunidades de mercado, se presenta una propuesta sobre cómo ayudar al estudiante en estos aspectos. La enseñanza que se entrega a los estudiantes incluye los conceptos de mercado, en que se les propone y recomienda partir de las necesidades del consumidor, generar ideas y luego evaluarlas, lo que está muy bien, siempre que se conozcan dichas necesidades.

This report assesses the impact of participation in farmer organizations (FOs) on food security of rural households in Cambodia. The study is particularly set out to following: (1) examine FOs’ roles and operation and challenges for improving household’s food security; (2) analyze household’s characteristics that determine participation in FOs; (3) assess the impact of FOs on food security and livelihood of the rural poor; and (4) provide specific recommendations for changes in relevant legal acts and regulatory frameworks associated with FOs.
