The Tanga Dairy Platform, created in 2008, is an informal forum of different stakeholders involved in the dairy industry of Tanzania’s Northeastern Tanga region. The platform’s objective is to exchange knowledge and develop joint actions to common problems. Six years on, it is a sustainable example of a commodity association addressing the joint problems of the region’s dairy industry.
El presente estudio se basa en el análisis sobre la incorporación de los principios de actuación por los que ha de guiarse el Fondo Internacional de Desarrollo Agrícola (FIDA), en su labor con Pueblos Indígenas y Afrodescendientes. El Programa de Desarrollo Rural en la Costa Caribe de Nicaragua, NICARIBE, fue el proyecto de referencia para el análisis.
Este reporte presenta un resumen de la primera evaluación del programa del FIDA en Argentina realizada por la Oficina de Evaluación del FIDA en 2009/10.

Agriculture remains fundamental for Nicaragua from both a macroeconomic and social view. It is the largest sector of the Nicaraguan economy, and it remains the single biggest employer with around 30 percent of the labor force and including processed foods, like meat and sugar, agriculture accounts for around 40 percent of total exports value. It examines who rural youth are, where they live, and the multiple constraints they face in their journey from dependence to independence. A distinguishing feature of this report is that it examines rural development in the context of the transformation of rural areas and the wider economy. Opportunities for young women and men begin with a transformation towards a dynamic rural economy.
El PMC Maíz amarillo duro tuvo como objetivo principal que el país llegue a la autosuficiencia de manera competitiva, es decir que ya no dependa de las importaciones y que la demanda sea cubierta por la producción nacional con precios adecuados en relación a la oferta internacional, logrando al mismo tiempo mejorar la calidad de vida del agricultor y la rentabilidad para todos los actores de la cadena.
El propósito del análisis presentado en este documento es estudiar algunos elementos en el contexto de unas cadenas (tomate y pepino) y un sector económico (hortalizas) priorizados por el Gobierno de la República de El Salvador. Esto se ha logrado gracias a la aplicación piloto de una herramienta cuantitativa desarrollada por el departamento de Desarrollo Económico y Social (ES) de FAO en Roma. Cabe destacar que este análisis no pretende ser un estudio exhaustivo de la cadena del tomate y pepino en el país sino que un ensayo para demonstrar el potencial de la herramienta.
