The well-being of the rural population globally has been associated with the performance and resilience of the agriculture sector. The sector continually requires new needs-based knowledge and technologies. It has become necessary to empower the rural communities through a wider bottom-up system that directly addresses their needs. This paper explores the application of little-used Participatory Livelihood Analysis for the adoption and up-scaling of its use in the assessment of agricultural-extension-needs for disadvantaged rural communities.
The purpose of this paper is to map some elements that can contribute to an IFAD strategy to stimulate and support pro-poor innovations.

These initiatives generated transformative and lasting results and contributed to the strengthening of local public policies and economic growth. Using very few resources and focusing on agroecological and inclusive production methods, these women have become role models in their communities and beyond. Empowered women can participate more actively in their communities and foster inclusive local policies that will ultimately drive more sustainable and just rural development.
This study reports on the contribution of farmer– to-farmer video-mediated group learning to capital assets building of women in resource-poor households. Data were collected using structured interviews with 140 randomly selected women in 28 video villages and 40 women in four control villages in north-west Bangladesh. It also stimulated reciprocal sharing of new knowledge and skills between them, other farmers and service providers.
