This publication represents a synthesis of assessments of national agricultural innovation systems in countries of Central Asia, South Caucasus and Turkey. The first chapter gives an introduction of the project “Capacity Development for Analysis and Strengthening of Agricultural Innovation Systems in Central Asia and Turkey”, out of which the current publication reports about one of the project outputs achieved.

Transforming a centrally planned system of agricultural production to one where individual farmers are accorded choice in crop mix and land use management practices is much more than a structural change. Embedded within this process is a fundamental shift in how knowledge is generated, disseminated and adopted. Upon dissolution of the Soviet Union, one immediate priority was the privatization of state farms and thereby relaxation of policies for collective production.
En este artículo se procura identificar, describir y comparar la concepción de extensión rural que guía a nivel subjetivo las prácticas de extensión de técnicos que trabajan en diez diferentes países latinoamericanos, para luego comparar estas concepciones con los modelos y lineamientos de extensión propuestos por la bibliografía. En este artículo se presentan dos líneas de trabajo. Primero tiene como objetivo contribuir a la identificación de los problemas a los que se enfrentan los extensionistas rurales que trabajan en los territorios; y, segundo, aportar a la reconstrucción y a la comprensión de las concepciones de extensión rural (ER con las que ellos enmarcan y ordenan sus prácticas cotidianas, analizando esto en el contexto de la institucionalidad del sistema de ER en Uruguay
En este estudio se realizó una investigación cuantitativa descriptiva de carácter transversal que permitió reconstruir el perfil de los extensionistas rurales que trabajan en el sistema de extensión público argentino. Para este fin se realizó una encuesta (enviada vía email) a extensionistas del INTA, ProHuerta y de la Subsecretaría de Agricultura Familiar. Para el análisis de los datos se utilizó el software SPSS 17.0.
This study assessed intermediate results of an investment intended to support climate change adaptation and resilience-building among farmers’ cooperatives in Rwanda. The assessment was based on a purposive sampling survey of farmers’ perspectives conducted in sites in 10 programme intervention districts of the country’s 30 districts.
