The International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD) financed the second Cordillera Highland Agricultural Resource Management Project (CHARMP2), in areas where poverty is most severe among indigenous peoples in the highlands of the Cordillera Region in northern Philippines. The aim is to reduce poverty and improve the livelihoods of indigenous peoples living in farming communities in the mountainous project area. The indigenous peoples consist of many tribes whose main economic activity is agriculture.

But, as this book argues, Africa can feed itself in a generation and help contribute to global food security. Este documento es una respuesta práctica a las necesidades que hemos observado a lo largo de los años por parte de los equipos técnicos y de actores sociales involucrados en los procesos de gestión del desarrollo rural en territorios. Es un material que asesora y que no debe ser aplicado como si fuera un formulario burocrático, de forma mecánica.
Este instrumento busca contribuir con los países al proceso de formulación de políticas públicas diferenciadas para la agricultura familiar, basado fundamentalmente en la construcción participativa, involucrando a los actores sociales y los agentes públicos en la gestión de su propio desarrollo, considerando la viabilidad técnica y política a las decisiones tomadas y a la implementación de soluciones.
