Este documento describe el Proyecto Internacional BIOMAS-CUBA, enfocado a utilizar la biomasa como fuente renovable de energía, contribuir a mejorar las condiciones de vida, y lograr la coexistencia entre mitigación y adaptación al cambio climático, seguridad alimentaria y sostenibilidad energética en el medio rural. BIOMAS-CUBA abarca la producción y utilización de biodiesel y biogás, la gasificación de biomasa y la producción de bioproductos.
This paper presents an overview of current opportunities and challenges facing efforts to increase the impact of rural and agricultural extension. The starting point for this analysis is in recognition that the days when agricultural extension was synonymous with the work of public sector agencies are over.
This book represents the proceedings of the FAO international technical conference dedicated to Agricultural Biotechnologies in Developing Countries (ABDC-10) that took place in Guadalajara, Mexico on 1-4 March 2010. A major objective of the conference was to take stock of the application of biotechnologies across the different food and agricultural sectors in developing countries, in order to learn from the past and to identify options for the future to face the challenges of food insecurity, climate change and natural resource degradation.

This book collects 24 stories of change from the EU-funded CDAIS project. Launched in 2015, the overall objective of CDAIS is to make agricultural innovation systems more efficient and sustainable in meeting the demands of farmers, agri-business and consumers. The stories are about the eight pilot countries - in Africa, Asia and Latin America - in which CDAIS operates. Esta es una publicación que busca asociar la experiencia del Programa Mujeres Ey Desarrollo Económico Local-MyDEL en Guatemala, con rutas de análisis para lograr el escalamiento de políticas públicas que potencien los derechos económicos de las mujeres, que abran espacios para su empoderamiento y participación en la gobernanza, y que favorezcan de manera sostenida su acceso a activos productivos; especialmente a nivel de los territorios.
El documento presenta una lectura general sobre la situación de las mujeres rurales en Colombia desde un enfoque territorial. Para su realización se acudió a una amplia revisión documental, pero también al encuentro con mujeres y experiencias claves frente al tema.
Este estudio tiene como principal orientación recoger, documentar y analizar experiencias relevantes de empoderamiento de las mujeres rurales en Chile, en vistas a otorgar orientaciones a las políticas públicas que contribuyan al desarrollo y mitigación de la pobreza.
The increased recognition of the multiplicity of roles played by women in, and their crucial contributions to, the fisheries sector exists in stark contrast with the low presence of women in fisherfolk organizations around the globe, and the lack of access to decision-making positions in many formal fisheries-related organizations. This paper summarizes analyses of a global literature review on women in fisherfolk organizations.
This report is based on the outputs of a one week Exposure and Exchange Programme (EEP) in India hosted by the Self-employed Women’s Association (SEWA) with African women leaders of producer organizations from West and Central Africa. This report critically evaluates the SEWA model and draws conclusions relevant to African women producers organizations to better meet the challenges of raising Africa’s agricultural potential, improve incomes for small farmers, and ensure greater food security.
