Le projet CALAO – Capitalisation d’expériences d’acteurs pour le développement de techniques agroécologiques résilientes en Afrique de l’Ouest – a été mis en œuvre au cours de l’année 2017 dans le cadre du Projet d’appui à la sécurité alimentaire en Afrique de l’Ouest (PASANAO), financé par l’AFD et dont la maîtrise d’ouvrage est assurée par la CEDEAO.
La production et la commercialisation de lait en Afrique de l’Ouest fait partie intégrante de l’économie et du mode de vie des familles d’éleveurs ruraux. La filière présente des potentiels de croissance certains avec un cheptel important, un secteur de la transformation dynamique et des débouchés en forte augmentation du fait de la croissance démographique et de l’urbanisation. Cette filière lait local est cependant aux prises à de nombreuses difficultés internes qui limitent fortement son développement.
In this paper, was used a case study approach to investigate the patterns of employment and income generation in cotton and rice value chains in Senegal and Benin. The purpose of the paper is to provide a comprehensive description of both value chains in both countries, emphasizing export potential and innovation entry points with the goal of assessing capacity to generate income, create jobs, and bring about food security.

L’accent porte sur la mise en évidence des facteurs décisifs dans l’émergence d’un nouveau réseau de coopératives semencières au Sénégal sous l’impulsion de l’organisation de producteurs Asprodeb. L’analyse est basée sur la théorie du changement qui accorde une place importante aux relations entre les innovations techniques et leur contexte politique et social.
Recently, a new approach to extension and climate information services, namely Participatory Integrated Climate Services for Agriculture (PICSA) has been developed. Whereas Irish potato (Solanum tuberosum) is a major staple food in many countries, it is one of the priority value chain crops under the Rwanda’s Crop Intensification Program (CIP). The crop is more important in the northern and northwestern than other parts of Rwanda. After plantain and cassava, potato is the third most important staple cultivated by 52.9% of the households in Rwanda.
