This Charter defines the general conditions and obligations of the Tropical Agriculture Platform (TAP) and its Partners, and sets forth the governance structure for voluntary cooperation by TAP Partners.
The challenges of providing food security for the developing world have perhaps never been so extreme, with the introduction of new technologies being matched by land degradation, water concerns and the often uncertain impacts of a changing climate. In short, we will need to produce more food on less land. Adding to the problem is the distrust and fear around some new technologies – particularly biotechnologies – that have created a divide between scientists and farmers, decision makers and the public. There have been many attempts to bridge these divides, but few success stories.
The objective of this note is to provide the opportunities for exploiting the information and communication technologies (ICT) for building capacity in addressing the challenges for formal agricultural education in the context of emerging challenges for agriculture and its development. The author shares her experience of participating in a training that was organized by the Tropical Agriculture Platform – Agricultural Innovation Systems (TAP-AIS) project, ‘Developing Capacities in Agricultural Innovation Systems: Scaling up the Tropical Agriculture Platform Framework’, implemented by FAO’s Research & Extension Unit, funded by the European Union as a component of the ‘Development Smart Innovation through Research in Agriculture (DeSIRA): Towards Climate-relevant Agricultural and Knowledge Innovation Systems’ initiative.
Approved by TAP partners, the TAP Work Plan 2016 describes the activities to be carried out in 2016 to achieve TAP's objective of promoting more coherent and effective capacity development interventions for agricultural innovation.
Se presenta en este documento la metodología de Escuela – Empresa desarrollada por el Ministerio de Agricultura y Desarrollo Rural de Colombia – Programa Oportunidades Rurales- y el Instituto Interamericano de Cooperación para la Agricultura (IICA) en 2010, como respuesta a los desafíos de fortalecimiento en capacidades de microempresarios rurales en Colombia, con una perspectiva de aplicación circunscrita inicialmente a los temas de comercialización, pero con una proyección de aplicación más allá de esta temática.
Des changements dans les agendas des politiques publiques des Comités Nationaux de l’Agriculture Familiale des Philippines, du Honduras, du Burkina Faso et du Sénégal seront soutenus techniquement et économiquement. La création d’un nouveau Comité au Tchad sera également appuyée.
