De nombreux agriculteurs africains pratiquent des formes d'agriculture potentiellement qualifiables de "?biologiques?". Pourtant, la capacité de l'agriculture biologique à répondre aux enjeux de la sécurité alimentaire en Afrique est encore mal connue, car il existe peu de références expérimentales disponibles dans cette région. L'élicitation probabiliste est une méthode permettant de rendre compte de manière précise des connaissances d'experts sur une ou plusieurs quantités d'intérêt, et de décrire les niveaux d'incertitude associés.
L’article analyse, à l’aide de la méthode ImpresS conçue par le Cirad, un processus d’innovation impulsé par les utilisatrices d’un équipement de transformation : le décortiqueur et blanchisseur de fonio (Digitaria exilis Stapf) en Afrique de l’Ouest. L’identification du système d’acteurs et le récit chronologique du processus d’innovation ont été mobilisés pour caractériser les mécanismes et les conditions qui expliquent la réussite de cette innovation.
La façon donc les organismes de recherche et d'appui aux agriculteurs participent aux processus de développement de l'agriculture et du monde rural fait l'objet de débats. Nous proposons d'illustrer cette problématique à partir d'un programme de coopération franco-argentin Innovaciones, Desarrollo, Exploitationes Agropecuarias, Sociedad local (IDEAS), engagé en Argentine en 1995-1996.

The visioning process brings together representatives of actor groups within the agricultural innovation systems (AIS) to build on their common understanding of AIS and the need for a coordinated approach. The process involves a wide spectrum of interested parties including ministries, legislative bodies and representatives of the private sector plus development partners and civil society.
Capacity needs assessment is at the core of the cycle of the TAP Common Framework and it is fundamental to strengthening the agricultural innovation systems (AIS). The Assessment aims to ascertain the level of technical and functional capacity, and in particular the capacity to adapt and respond in the various dimensions. The capacity needs assessment will provide an analysis across the sector to inform the setting of priorities and development of strategic capacity development (CD) interventions.
