Participation of actors is essential for achievement of the United Nation’s (UN) Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). With respect to sustainable agriculture the UN has introduced a collaborative framework for food systems transformation encompassing: 1) food system champions identification; 2) food systems assessment; 3) multi-stakeholder dialogue and action facilitation; and, 4) strengthen institutional capacity for food systems governance. The last two actions are the focus of this thesis.
Longtemps, le travail des femmes dans les exploitations agricoles n’a bénéficié d’aucune existence légale. Sans statut officiel, la grande majorité des femmes d’agriculteurs travaillaient ainsi à titre gratuit au bénéfice du chef d’exploitation (père ou mari). Ces dernières décennies, des avancées significatives ont amené une plus grande égalité entre les sexes en agriculture : acquisition d’un statut autonome, développement d’activités de diversification, etc.
This study draws on social-psychology in an attempt to identify the various motivations for technology adoption (TA), including both economic and non-economic, and to gain insights into how and why Brazilian innovative beef farmers make decisions about whether or not to adopt particular technologies.
